In order to feel comfortable in the dental chair and increase your chances of treatment success, it’s best to prepare for your dental implant surgery. The dental implant surgery is an invasive treatment that can successfully restore your oral health. So, the more prepared you are, the better.

To help you prepare for your appointment, our North Forest Family Dental Care dental team encourages you to do the following things:

-Tell your doctor about any medical conditions you have as well as any medications you are taking, including over-the-counter and prescription drugs and supplements. If you have orthopedic implants or certain heart conditions, our dentist might prescribe antibiotics before surgery to help prevent infection.

-Consider your anesthesia options. Generally, our dentists will use local anesthesia, sedation, or general anesthesia to control your pain. Talk to him about which option is best for you.

-If you are going to have a strong anesthetic, it’s best to ask a family member or friend to take you home after the appointment. The anesthetic will be too strong to allow you to drive.

-Your dental team will give you instructions on what to eat and drink before surgery. Make sure you follow those instructions. This is important because the instructions will be based on the type of anesthetic you will receive.

If you follow our instructions and use these tips, you will be on the right track toward preparing for your dental implant surgery in The Woodlands, Texas!
